Reading travelled to Sheffield for the 2nd weekend running, this time to take on the national cup holders Sheffield I.
Despite being under strength, Reading made a strong start with efficient blocking, organised defence and powerful hitting. Sheffield were pushed all the way until 21-20 when they stepped up a gear and with strong jump service closed out the set 25-22.
With the 1st set under their belts the home team were able to relax and put relentless pressure on the Reading passing unit. With no subs available, Reading was unable to find a way back into the set. Similarly, Reading lost the 3rd set and the match.

The score per set was 25-22, 25-12, 25-12 for Sheffield I.
Next week, on Sunday the 28th of September at 14:40, RVC plays their first home game of the season against Coventry & Warwick Riga.
